Welcome to Chad Mullane's (famous(?) Japanese comedian and friend to Japanese learners everywhere) Onomatopoeia Series for Japanese learners. In these short video comedy sketches, we'll learn about the uses of Onomatopoeia in Japanese, as well as some great ways to tell them apart.
Japanese has many more variations of onomatopoeia than in English, and they are much more commonly used in speech and writing.
However, they also have to downside that many can seem very similar to non-native speakers, and a simple change from か to が can change the entire meaning of the word.
So sit back and enjoy this introduction to onomatopoeia with Chad Mullane's "What is Onomatopoeia?"
